Bicycles - Time to get into it!
Posted by: | CommentsHeya all,
Further to my post from yesterday Bicycle Riding - Things I have discovered! (if you have not yet had a read I really do recommend it), I thought I should give you all a view of my Bike. I have had this one for a while, it is not my first (unfortunatly my first one got stolen from right in my house /cries) but *luckily* it was all covered by insurance.
So… anyhoo, before I show ya my little baby I would also like to say that I have booked into a “Get Back Into Riding” course that is running this weekend. I thought that it will be good as they go through some of the basics which includes how to properly use gears while going up a hill (which should be really beneficial) among many more things. I also hope to use it as a chance to network with some local riders for some more social riding. Anyhoo… onto my baby!
Now for the fun stuff, some of the accesories that I have added over time (of which these two were added just today) a side mirror and AirZound Horn. The AirZound Horn pumps out a staggering 115db of sound (which yours truly was STUPID enough to test… my ears rang from the noise), this is particularly useful when riding at night when you may not be seen or on main roads that are busy as heck, the side mirror particularly helps in that you do not have to turn to see behind you, vastly reducing risk of accidents (among other benifits):
Next come the lights, only necessary if you are riding at dusk or after nightfall. They kinda chew through batteries however I have found a great remedy for that (will detail further in a later post):
A *great* little addition is the Universal Bike Stand… I had three staff from two seperate bike stores that I could not have a bike stand due to the disc brakes (see below), however I managed to get a hold of this little sucker which works a treat… after getting the tightness correct the first few days it has been solid ever since:
And to finish off the package… Hydraulic disc brakes, these allow me to stop up *VERY* quickly, much quicker than standard bike brakes. In one particular recent episode they stopped me from going into the back windscreen of a car (best 200 bucks I ever forked out):
Well I guess that is my little baby (LOL more like massive monster… it was not built to be light *hehe*). Anyone have any questions (or if you want to tell me that I am insane please do so as well).
I am looking forward to my ride this weekend and hope to bring photos and some info back with me for you all, so keep an eye out.
Stuart
