Want to know if you’re Sacked? Try your luck!

As an inevitable outcome of the recession people will (sadly) lose their jobs. However, never in my life did I imagine that a company would sack their employees in such a way. This one just hit my inbox and I had to share: A Singaporian company fired their staff using a fire drill.

Getting Sacked

Source Unknown

Personally I can see the humor in it, but to be in that situation would be shocking. What are your thoughts?

[note] As I expected this is an urban myth *but a funny one nonetheless* See http://www.snopes.com/business/consumer/firedrill.asp

That is so horrible (and yes, funny in a very twisted way too)!

It just makes it so much worse that the poor people don’t even get to sort out their own belongings or say a proper good bye to everyone. Pretty nasty way to treat employees

    Hi Jillian,
I have to agree with you on that one, kinda heartless.

@Martin – I do have to agree, half funny and half very disturbing. I wonder how much truth there is behind it.

@Matt – LOL can you just imagine, it would be TERRIBLE lol. And thanks

This is hilarious! I mean it must’ve seemed horrible for fired people but imagine firing couple hundred employees in one day without a notice. You can be sure that people would start rioting.

  8. Stuart says:

    Hi Setai,
This is true, it must have been interesting (funny/odd??) to have been the person over the loud speaker. You would be kinda laughing and crying at the same time… at least you knew which side of the security gate you were on!

@Erin – Sorry hun, somehow I missed your comment. Yea it is pretty harsh, haha on the other hand at least you would not have to pack everything up, and you get it all couriered to ya!

  10. Wow, very interesting, unique, frighten, and funny way in once to fire your employees. Really, in some way that is brilliant and very clever, but like you sad I would not like to be in position of employees of that company.
    Cheers
