This blog is NOFOLLOW Free!

You Comment, I Follow!

commentfollow You Comment, I Follow!

Hi Everyone,
I have decided to turn on some new functionality on my site. From now on if you leave a comment on my blog (permitting you have left a total of more than 3 comments) the nofollow attribute will be removed.

For most people this will not mean a thing however for my fellow bloggers that leave comments on my blog it means that you will receive credit on Google for comments that you leave pointing to your site.

The way this works is that Google calculates the Pagerank of a site based on how many other sites link back to them. By default, to stop spam most blogs now have a feature called nofollow turned on. This stops Google from recognising the link and counting it towards the pagerank calculation. Now by turning this functionality on, after you leave a minimum of 3 comments, each comment you leave will be counted towards the Google Pagerank.

We will see how this feature goes however I hope it just gives you all one more reason to comment on my blog in future.

Stuart

I have the “dofollow” plugin on my other blog but it doesn’t seem to work.

Wow, so nice of you Stuart. Hope that Google doesn’t penalise you though in doing this!

You may then have to re-think it over :D

I’ve read somewhere that they now don’t even count links without “nofollow” attribute. Don’t quote me on it, though.

    Heya Melo,
Perhaps try this plugin, I managed to get it working really easily. Or if you would like me to help let me know and I will contact you via email.

Michael A., I hope that they don’t but I decided I wanted to do it to reward my loyal readers.

And Michael I will have to look into that and see if I can find any more details on it.

    Thanks all
    Stuart

    Hi Crystal,
If you use the plugin mentioned at the bottom of my post, it will do that one for ya. You can even select from four different colours.

I’m still learning the ropes of entrecard and all that stuff but blogging is not new to me at all! I love reading other people’s blogs and post blogs about the ones I really enjoy.

I am also new to Entrecard. I signed up about 3 weeks ago but I have managed to learn how to use it pretty quickly.

    Hello Stu.

I’m unsure of what you’re even talking about. See, I kind of get it, but mostly I don’t. Why? Because I fail with a big fat “F” over the follow/no follow stuff and to be quite honest, I don’t ‘get’ half of what the internet has to offer. :)

I have looked around your blog though and have enjoyed myself and thought I’d comment.

    Take care.

I’ve been looking at those ‘you comment, I follow’ links on other blog sites for months and have never been sure if they work or not. I’m happy to add a widget to my blog…but I dont want to appear like a banner farm!

Keep us posted if it makes a difference to your traffic…I’m interested to know.

    Stuart,

I have been researching the “do follow” issue lately and wondering if you have noticed any increase or decrease in readers, difference with page rank on Google, or spam problems?

I have been debating on using the do-follow system for sometime but not sure.

    Thanks!

    John
